The EIP Elements team deals with a wide range of chemical patents for a broad spectrum of UK and international clients ranging from universities and small start-up companies to large multinational corporations. We are experts in obtaining, enforcing and challenging patents on behalf of our clients. We regularly perform due diligence projects required for investment in innovative start-ups or in preparation for a product launch.
We have expertise in pharmaceutical and agrochemical patents, including drug discovery and development, and further medical use and dosage regimen protection. We also have considerable experience in the fields of materials science, catalysis, electrochemistry and batteries, petrochemicals, polymers, food and flavour ingredients, cosmetics, and process chemistry.
We work to obtain Supplementary Protection Certificates (SPCs) for our clients both in the UK and across Europe, one of the most complex, niche areas of law. We are well-versed in SPC legislation and case law, and regularly advise pharmaceutical clients on SPC issues.
We can utilise the strength of technical expertise across the whole of EIP to provide the best team to handle interdisciplinary projects, such as the increasing use of AI in the pharmaceutical sector.
Our attorneys have acted in major chemical patent litigation cases in the UK and Europe as well as significant opposition cases at the EPO.
